LTW 2009: Grand Canyon for Students who are Sighted, Blind and Visually-Impaired… and Costa Rica 2009 for Students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

Embark on an extraordinary journey with an unlikely team of students.

Lead
Step outside your comfort zone and learn to use adversity as an advantage and explore your own leadership skills.

Learn
Explore new cultures, understand global conservation issues, engage in community service and step up to become a responsible global citizen.

Live
Experience the joy of travel and discover the power that you have to make a difference in the world.

Developed in partnership with world renowned blind athlete, Erik Weihenmayer, the Leading the Way program teams high school and college students who are blind, visually impaired and sighted for an unparalleled science, community service, leadership, and cultural adventure. In 2009, we are also piloting our first group that combines students who are hard of hearing, deaf and hearing.

Not only an amazing experience for the participants themselves, each Leading the Way expedition is paired with a social awareness and media campaign which we use to educate a much broader constituency. These campaigns provide a message of hope and inspiration while helping to break down barriers, misconceptions and prejudices that the public has about people with disabilities.
