Travel to the Peruvian Amazon in the summer of 2008! Join Colorado State University and Fort Collins-based Global Explorers in an interdisciplinary program that includes:
• Preparatory lessons on Peruvian culture, geography, and tropical ecology and conservation conducted at CSU prior to travel.
• 7 full days in the Amazon Rainforest studying culture, language, geography, conservation and sustainable development and community service.
• Program content goals that are tied to regional, state and national standards and emphasize creative ways to apply lessons learned to the classroom.
• An opportunity to earn CEU and/or graduate credit from CSU
The program is open to K-12 teachers in Poudre & Thompson school districts as well as CSU soon-to-be educators. CSU students who are pursuing either formal or informal education for K-12 students and will be entering their junior or senior year in 2008 are encouraged to apply. If you are an educator that does not fall into one of these categories but is still interested in our program, please contact us. Participants can earn CEU or graduate credits from Colorado State University. If you are interested in earning these credits, please contact Global Explorers for details on fees associated with credits.

Teachers who participate on this Educator’s Workshop and then bring a group of at least 10 students on a Global Explorers expedition in 2009 will be reimbursed for their 2008 Educator’s Workshop Program Expenses (exclusive of international airfare).

Optional Machu Picchu Extension: A four day optional extension to Cusco and Machu Picchu is available. Please inquire at Global Explorers for details.
