9 Month Internships that Include Travel!

Global Explorers is seeking interns who are interested in an internship with our nonprofit organization beginning in September 2009 and ending in June 2010. The intern will work on a combination of special projects and provide administrative support. Special projects might include work on our curriculum, travel materials, organizational partnerships, school outreach and much more. At the culmination of a successful internship, the accepted applicant(s) will receive a free trip to one of our destinations in the summer of 2010. We are looking for interns to fill positions from September 15-June 1 with some flexibility in terms of starting and end dates. The position requires a minimum of 15 hours per week and is unpaid, though it may lead to paid work. Interns must work from our home office in Fort Collins, CO located in downtown Fort Collins.

Position Requirements (Ideal candidates would have the following characteristics�): A self-motivated initiator who can work well on his/her own; Good written and verbal communication skills; Additional bonus skills would include experience with marketing, development and/or fundraising and web design experience.

We have the following internship specializations available starting in September of 2009:

Leading the Way

One of our most exciting programs, called Leading the Way, teams together high school and college students who are visually impaired and sighted. The LTW Program has been featured on ABC Nightline, ABC World News, the Travel Channel and CBS Sunday Morning. It is conducted in partnership with world renowned blind climber Erik Weihenmayer. We rely heavily on this intern for the following tasks:

- Program Management: Responsibilities may include assisting with planning and implementing student training retreat, conference calls and curriculum. Track student registration and on-going communications with students. Assist with implementation of other open enrollment programs at Global Explorers such as our alumni programs and Girl Scouts partnership.

- Marketing and Outreach: Particular emphasis will be placed on building a stronger base of LTW participants. Responsibilities may include web research as well as local outreach events and presentations in Colorado�s Front Range.

- General Program Support: Responsibilities may include weekly staff meetings, the creation and distribution of program materials, and administrative support (i.e. answering phones, making copies, recycling, and light cleaning).

Position Requirements (Ideal candidates would have the following characteristics�):

A self-motivated initiator who can work well on his/her own; Detail-oriented; Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; Experience with marketing, development and/or fundraising; Experience working in a leadership/teaching role with middle and high school students; Academic experience in natural sciences; International travel experience; Public speaking and outreach experience. Experience with people with visual impairments is not required.

Outreach & Marketing

Gain AUTHENTIC marketing experience with Customer Relationship Management, Internet Marketing, SEO, Direct Marketing, Conference Exhibiting and Presenting, Promotions, and Publicity / Public Relations. Global Explorers is seeking an intern who is interested in helping us with the development and implementation of marketing strategies for our nonprofit organization. Particular emphasis will be placed on new marketing initiatives in the Front Range of Colorado and promoting our programs to educators, students and parents. The internship includes a combination of special marketing initiatives and administrative support.

Summer International Field Workshop Coordinators

Join our team of summer field workshop coordinators! Typically, we begin looking for summer staff in December and hire positions by February. Field Workshop Coordinators are responsible for helping share our educational journeys with our students. Staff teach, manage the safety of the group, deal with travel logistics and much more. Positions may last the length of one trip (10-20 days) or last the entire summer. Check back in December for postings.
