Oklahoma School for the Blind, Oklahoma
During my time in Peru, I want to learn about my surroundings and a lot more about the Andes Mountains and Machu Picchu. I hope to experience hard work – both physically and mentally. I love facing new challenges.
At school am vice-president of DECA, a cheerleader, a student council representative, and a peer mediator. I want to go to college to be an archeologist – I am very interested in historical artifacts. I really love learning about new places, especially places that I have never been. It will be exiting and I plan on learning a lot of new things.
I think leadership is about listening to other peoples’ ideas, having the determination to get things done, putting other people first, and paying attention. Student council has taught me how to be a leader because all of us have to make decisions concerning the whole student body. We have to listen to other peoples’ ideas and thoughts on what’s going on in the school. Being a leader is very important and, to my fullest extent, I will be a good leader with a great attitude.
