We’re going to the Amazon rainforest and we want YOU to us!

Don’t you think it’s time for an adventure? You’ve seen the rich biodiversity and vibrant cultures of the Amazon rainforest in textbooks with your students. Now is your chance to experience it for yourself and bring back first-hand knowledge and tales of just how incredible the rainforest is. You’ll search for poison dart frogs, giant river otters, scarlet macaws and more as you dive into conservation issues and develop your professional skills. In addition, you’ll have a chance to explore educational travel to see if it’s right for your students or your children. If you decide that it is, Global Explorers will offer a $100 discount on future travel to students and/or children of adults who participate in this adventure.

This unique travel program, developed by Global Explorers in partnership with three adventurous Grandville teachers, offers Western Michigan adults an opportunity to visit one the most magnificent places on Earth - the tropical rainforests of Peru’s Tambopata region. Typically, Global Explorers groups are composed mostly of students who are accompanied by several educators from their school. This opportunity allows you to participate in an educational travel program with your peers instead of your students. You’ll still participate in Global Explorers 3-phase learning program, including preparatory curriculum and follow-up service, and you’ll still have the adventure of a lifetime. In addition to traveling with your friends, you’ll be joined by an experienced Global Explorers Expedition Leaders, local guides and various other scientists and educators.

Please note that Tambopata is not one of Global Explorers’ regular destination offerings. This is a customized program that students and educators from Western Michigan have participated in several times in the past (the group in 2009 even saw a jaguar and a harpy eagle in the wild!). To learn more about this program please review this downloadable PDF.
