Educators Resources

Working well with teachers is at the core of what we are about at Global Explorers. It is a part of our commitment to enable students and teachers to have the very best international experience possible. Few international travel programs offer the level of support for traveling school groups that we provide. Below is a sample of what our Global Explorers Programs include:

Ongoing Staff Support

Our program is designed to be user-friendly, flexible and fully supportive for the teachers who enroll a student group in one of our programs. We provide assistance every step of the way in whatever manner is appropriate for each teacher’s individualized needs. We do this because our talented staff itself consists of very experienced educators who understand teacher needs, resources and areas of expertise.

Personal School Visit

If you are a new school to Global Explorers, we will send a staff person to your school to give a presentation to interested students, parents, teachers and school administration about your chosen destination.

Slide Show Presentations & Video

We have pre-prepared slide shows on each of our destinations that are user-friendly and informative. We also have a short 10-minute informational DVD that introduces people to our programs.

Preparatory Curriculum & Books

Our Discovering Classroom Earth Curriculum helps prepare students for their international experience before they travel with a series of 9 to 12 hands-on, age-appropriate and user-friendly lessons. The two-hour lessons explore everything from culture to language and travel tips to leadership skills. Your workshop fee includes this curriculum as well as support books and staff support in implementing it with your participants. The lessons are designed to be flexible and easily adaptable to various school schedules depending on your group’s needs. See a sample lesson.

Fundraising Support

As a nonprofit organization, we are committed to helping students raise funds to support the costs of their international travel. In fact, most of our groups raise about 1/3 of the costs of their program though group fundraising. Global Explorers coaches you through the fundraising process and provides written resources on getting a successful fundraising campaign started in your school.

Guide to Logistical Details

Our Travel Essentials Handbooks contain all of the logistical information necessary for teachers to have a successful program. The Handbooks includes all of the necessary travel forms, health and safety information, frequently asked questions, handouts for parents, tips on selling the trip to a School Board, and much more. We consider it to be the ABCs of the Global Explorers programs.

Follow-Up Service Leadership Packet

Our Follow-Up Service Packet walks you through the simple steps to implement a powerful service project in your community following your travel experience. Again, our staff is there to support you every step of the way! Click here to learn about our Service Leadership Philosophy.

Eco-Friendly Choices

We always strive to make eco-friendly choices in how we run our organization. That begins with selecting partners in our field countries that have a deep respect and appreciation for the natural world and our role in protecting it. We hope you appreciate the time and effort that went into choosing these partners. In addition, a few other things we do on a daily basis include using 100% organic cotton t-shirts and recycled paper in all of our materials and offsetting airplane travel carbon emissions from annual travel with purchases of wind energy credits through Native Energy.

Receive Graduate Credit

Through a partnership with the the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point (UWSP) we can offer up to three graduate credits in education for teachers who complete the entire Global Explorers Program with their students. This is a true testament to the educational quality of our program! The cost for the credit is the standard cost for a 3-credit graduate course at UWSP (approximately $150 per credit).
