Matt was born in raised in western Colorado where his great grandparents homesteaded in the early 1900s. He graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with BA in Political Science. Since 1996, he has worked for Natural Habitat Adventures, a Boulder-based company that offers over 50 distinct small group nature adventures across the globe, on seven continents and in over 25 countries. Since 2002, he has served as the company’s Director of Marketing and has particularly enjoyed his role in helping the company establish its reputation as a pioneer in sustainable travel. Since then, NHA was named the exclusive Conservation Travel Provider to World Wildlife Fund, was the first tour operator in the US to offset its on-trip carbon emissions, and achieved the highest ranking among tour operators worldwide on Conde Nast Traveler’s Green List. Among his many blessings (his dog Jones included and pictured here) he feels perhaps most fortunate to be able to indulge his own passion for adventure and to see firsthand that, when done right, travel is a powerful force that promotes understanding, compassion and conservation.
