Ashley

Hello! I am Ashley.  I am a sophomore (age 15) at Mainland High School.  When I first heard about this trip, and that I could meet Erik Weihenmeyer in person, I was really excited.  Back in Middle School, I read Touch the Top of the World and fell in love with it and wished that one day I would get a chance to meet the man who wrote such a powerful and inspirational novel.  I am extremely honored to have been accepted for Global Explorers Leading the Way, and am very anxious to learn more about the trip and the participants.  I can’t believe that I’m going to another country for two weeks to experience the best parts of its landscape and culture, and that I will meet Mr. Weihenmeyer and several other motivated kids.

As far as my interests go, I have always been a music lover.  I keep my self very busy participating in plays (sometimes two or three at a time) and studying voice and piano, as well as keeping up with school.  My dream when I grow up is to be on Broadway and to be the director of my own theatrical ”Dream Studio” for kids of all ages.  I would also like to go into playwriting.

Although this trip is going to take a lot of work, I feel it is going to make me a stronger person.  It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity   that will allow me to face amazing new challenges.
