Nicole

My name is Nicole and I am 14 years old and in my freshman year of high school in a private parochial school in Rhode Island. I chose to apply for the Global Explorers Leading the Way Program because I thought it sounded interesting and I didn’t have anything to lose. I was thrilled when I got accepted to go to Peru because this is the first opportunity I got to travel to another continent. The thing I am looking forward to most about this trip is working with a group of wonderful people in a foreign country. I am legally blind with albinism which means that I have light-colored hair and light-colored eyes which make me sensitive to light. I also have nystagmus which makes it harder for my eyes to focus. Despite visual impairment, I work with miniature horses and I am currently taking six different classes of dance. These would include jazz, tap, musical theater, modern, Broadway tap and Irish-step dancing. I am looking forward to this once in a lifetime experience.
