Night Skies Contest
The 2012 Night Skies Contest is an exciting opportunity for four 2012 travelers to win a $1,000 scholarship toward their Global Explorers travel tuition and for one 2011 Global Explorers traveler to win an iPod Touch! Students can enter the contest at: www.globalexplorers.org/nightskies.
The objective of the Night Skies campaign is to encourage student travelers to think about the night sky from an introspective point of view. Global Explorers is hoping to gauge the relevance of the night sky to students and raise awareness of the importance of protecting the night sky as a resource through this campaign. Students can submit a photo, essay, poem, video, or artwork in response to our prompt, which is “What do you think about when you look into the night sky?” Winners will be chosen based on creativity, impact, presentation, and extent to which the work captures one of the following themes: introspection, vastness, nature, preservation, or history. Public votes will count for 20% of the final judging score and public voting will be open from January 24 until January 31, 2012.
