Join Erik Weihenmayer, the first blind man to summit Mount Everest, and Global Explorers’ staff for our second annual trek through the magical land of the Incas. This spectacular experience will team blind, visually-impaired and sighted high school students for an unparalleled leadership, teamwork, and learning adventure in the Peruvian Andes. While trekking through snow-capped mountains, students will explore the rich cultural and natural history of this fascinating region. They’ll learn a great deal about themselves and each other as they push beyond their boundaries on this journey of a lifetime.
From the spiritual energy of the ancient Inca people, to the crisp cool air of the mountains; from the textures and fascinating history of the ancient Inca ruins, to the vibrant lifestyles of present-day Peruvian culture; this trek offers an amazing opportunity for personal growth, discovery and adventure. Students will have a truly unique opportunity to develop life-long leadership skills as blind and sighted students work together in a fully integrated team. Global Explorers, a non-profit organization dedicated educational international immersion experiences for students and teachers, is excited to join world-class blind athlete and inspirational speaker Erik Weihenmayer to offer this exceptional journey.
