PeaceJam Costa Rica Expedition
PeaceJam has partnered with Global Explorers to provide a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for PeaceJammers from around the United States to experience first-hand a country that dismantled its military to invest in education and preserve its diverse ecosystems. This 10-day adventure explores how Costa Rica balances true human security with stunning biodiversity through the study of Nobel Peace Prize Winner Oscar Arias, the former President of Costa Rica, and immersion into complex ecosystems from Caribbean beaches to world-renowned rainforests.
Explore how peace and social justice relate to the preservation of such things as the nesting areas of sea turtles, habitats of three-toed sloths, and Costa Rican history and culture. Engage in PeaceJam’s Global Call to Action campaign through service projects that address local issues ranging from disarmament to conservation, fair trade, and literacy. In the process, visit some of the most beautiful and inspiring places in a country that has earned the title, “the happiest country in the world.”
