Western New York Tanzania
We encourage Western New York area high school students to apply to our African Discovery Program, jointly offered by Global Explorers and the Center for Educational Collaboration at the University of Buffalo. Tanzania is truly a gem that reveals Earth’s amazing cultural and ecological diversity. Under the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, it’s easy to feel a deep personal connection to this region known as the “Cradle of Life.” On safari in Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater we enjoy an abundant array of animal life that rivals any wildlife experience on Earth. We also learn about human life in Tanzania, past and present, through a visit to a Maasai boma and several days of cultural activities with local students in Moshi. On safari in Africa’s grasslands or side-by-side with Tanzania’s local residents, the African Discovery program shows us a new world and opens doors to personal reflection like nowhere else.
Are you a Western New York educator who would like to spread the word or get involved? Contact Katie Biggie at [email protected] or (716)-829-6170 to receive more information to share with your students. There may also be an opportunity to participate in the program and travel with the group for free. Let Katie know if you’re interested!
