I really enjoy giving back to others and learning about the diversity of the human race. I admire Erik Weihenmayer for his accomplishments. Very few sighted people have achieved what he has, but to be blind and have completed such nearly impossible tasks is absolutely amazing.

I play field hockey and lacrosse for my school, and I also really enjoy playing tennis and indoor field hockey during the winter. I’m a member of the discipline committee and the community service committee at my school.

I’ve always been really interested in other cultures, and this past summer I traveled to France and stayed with a family there. Being completely immersed in another culture was a great experience, and I can’t wait for this trip in June. I am so glad that Global Explorers has provided such a wonderful opportunity to not only travel abroad and have this experience, but also to make new friends and become a stronger leader.

Being a good leader means respecting others, helping them to the best of your ability, and just having the courage to take the lead even if you may not be the most knowledgeable person. A good leader has to support the people around them and allow them to take the lead as well. A leader should be open to new ideas. I have the necessary qualities of a leader, but at the same time I have the ability to be a compatible member of a team.
